Service Description

Take your machine-knitting skills to the next level while creating a finished woven purse you can take home and use! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to use the knit-weaving technique to add texture, color, and dimension to your knitting. We’ll work through the purse from start to finish, including the knitted body, decorative eyelets, drawstring, handles, and final assembly. You’ll also learn how to create i-cord directly on the knitting machine, use a latch-tool gate-peg bind off, and finish your project using a sewing machine to seam the sides and securely attach the handles. By the end of class, you’ll have experience with several techniques that can be used well beyond this project—and a finished woven purse to show for it. Skills needed before class: Participants should already be comfortable with an E-wrap cast on, transferring stitches/creating eyelets, and basic bind off techniques. Skills you’ll learn: - Knit weaving and working with a weaving yarn - Creating machine-knit i-cord - Latch-tool gate-peg bind off - Using a sewing machine to seam knitted fabric - Attaching knitted handles - Finishing and assembling a completed purse Class Length: Approximately 2–3 hours, depending on the amount of time needed to complete and finish your purse. This is an intermediate/beyond-beginner class. Students should already know the required skills listed above and be comfortable operating a flatbed knitting machine independently. You’ll leave with: a completed woven purse, a reusable weaving pattern, and new techniques you can apply to future machine-knitting projects.
